Antelope Valley vs the Inland Empire (2026)

Short answer

Choose the Antelope Valley if the job is Plant 42, Edwards, or a remote schedule and you want Los Angeles County or Kern housing with a yard. Choose the Inland Empire if the job is in the IE warehouse and logistics belt or you need Ontario, Riverside, or San Bernardino every day. Both are hot. They are not the same commute. Crossing from Palmdale to Riverside on a weekday is not a casual backup plan.

Questions people ask

+Is the Antelope Valley cheaper than the Inland Empire?

Sometimes, for a detached house, and it depends which IE city you mean. Corona is not Victorville. Compare a specific house to a specific house. Do not compare a Palmdale median to "the IE."

+Which commute is worse?

The one you drive every day. Palmdale to Los Angeles on the 14 is famous. Riverside to Los Angeles on the 91 and the 60 is famous for a different reason. A Plant 42 worker living in Fontana chose the wrong famous commute.

+Where do aerospace workers belong?

Near the gate they badge through. The Antelope Valley is the housing market for Plant 42 and Edwards. The IE is a different employer map. Do not split the difference with a two-hour experiment.

+Is the weather the same?

Both get hot. The Antelope Valley adds high-desert wind and dust and cooler nights. The IE is its own heat, with different fire and insurance maps by city. Get a local insurance quote either way.

+What about VA loans?

VA works in both markets if the house appraises and passes condition. The loan is not the reason to pick a region. The job is.

+Can I work in one and live in the other?

A few people do. Most of them are unhappy by month six or they have a hybrid schedule they were honest about. Drive it twice on a workday before you write.
