Westside Union vs AVUHSD vs Palmdale School District

Short answer

Westside Union is a K-8 district. AVUHSD is the 9-12 high school district for the valley. Palmdale School District is a different K-8 district for much of the city of Palmdale. A west Palmdale address can be Westside Union and then Highland High. A Quartz Hill address can be Westside Union and then Quartz Hill High. The ZIP does not pick the campus. Confirm the address. This page does not rate schools.

What is the difference?

AVUHSD runs the comprehensive high schools. Westside Union and Palmdale School District run K-8 schools on different maps that can sit inside the same high school district. Being in Westside Union does not mean Quartz Hill High. Being in the city of Palmdale does not mean Palmdale School District.

West Palmdale is not one elementary district

Many west Palmdale family streets are Westside Union, then Highland High. Palmdale School District also operates campuses in ZIP 93551, including Dos Caminos, Palmdale Learning Plaza, and David G. Millen, listed on the district directory. A 93551 address can land in either K-8 district. Ask the district. Do not trust the listing remarks.

Quartz Hill and 93536

Quartz Hill K-8 is Westside Union. Quartz Hill High is AVUHSD. Lancaster High is also AVUHSD and also uses ZIP 93536. The Quartz Hill High homes page and the Lancaster High homes page are different polygons. This site's high school maps are AVUHSD attendance boundaries. Westside Union campus pages are homes near the campus, not a street-by-street K-8 line.

No test scores and no "best of" list on this page. Boundaries change by address, and choice or magnet programs are a district question, not an MLS field.

Questions people ask

+Is Westside Union the same as Quartz Hill High?

No. Westside Union is K-8. Quartz Hill High is AVUHSD, grades 9-12. A lot of Quartz Hill students do both. A Westside Union address in west Palmdale is often Highland High instead.

+Is Palmdale School District the high school district?

No. Palmdale School District is K-8. High school for those addresses is AVUHSD: often Palmdale High, Knight High, or Highland High, depending on the street.

+Does ZIP 93551 mean Westside Union and Highland High?

Often, not always. Palmdale School District lists campuses in 93551. Use the address, not the ZIP.

+Does ZIP 93536 mean Quartz Hill High?

No. 93536 includes Quartz Hill High and Lancaster High. Open both boundary pages.

+What about Lancaster, Eastside, and the southeast valley?

Lancaster School District and Eastside Union cover other Lancaster K-8 streets. Keppel Union covers much of the Littlerock, Pearblossom, and Lake Los Angeles elementary map. High school there is still AVUHSD. Confirm the parcel.

+Where are the homes inside a high school boundary?

Start at the schools hub, then the campus page under /schools/high-school. The homes-zoned-to pages on this guide answer the premium question. They do not replace the map.

+Do you rate the schools?

No. I will not invent a GreatSchools number or a magazine rank. I will tell you which boundary the house is in and what buyers pay for that fact.
